Childhood Haiku II
Empty halls echo
With dreams of long summer days
Another year passed
Bicycle tires
Humming like a bumble bee
Free destination
Sunday shoes too tight
Socks feel unnaturally warm
Soles pray for cool grass
Nightcrawler hunters
Hold flashlights steady in hand
Crouched, waiting to pounce
Rainwater gathers
Inside an old tire swing
Childhood memories

This is brilliant. I love this line ‘Soles pray for cool grass’.
Thanks.
